The Jeffree Star Cosmetics Logo is displayed as two letter J’s, facing opposite sides surrounded by a star. The logo is typically colored pink and on some products, the J’s are colored in gold. The colors may change according to the packaging of the products.

The two J’s outlined by the star is to represent Jeffree Star’s name using just a logo alone.
This logo was created by BJ Betts, an artist and an acquaintance of Jeffree, with the intent of mimicking the iconic double G logo of Gucci. This was Jeffree’s idea because Gucci is seen as very high class, expensive, and a sign of high quality. He wanted his logo to be associated with the same by imitating the look of the logo. There were many hand drawn prototypes before this was finalized and eventually used as Jeffree’s makeup logo.

The use of the initials and the star I believe was clever because you could see how it represents his name therefore you know who the brand was designed by. The usual use of pink shows the playfulness in the logo which I believe was intended because Jeffree is known for releasing fun colors. It also shows, at least in my opinion, that this was intended for makeup.

The shape of the star and J’s show no soft or round edges. Despite usually being colored pink or “rose gold”, the lack of soft edges represents that the product is still high quality. Hence why the Gucci logo was the original inspiration. The use of sharp edges in contrast with the cute Barbie pink gives the logo a balance and represents what the products are: playful high quality makeup.

The letters are quite bold compared to the thickness of the star. This brings more attention to the initials of the designer so that people would know who it was by.

Considering all of the elements used to design the logo and the story behind it, I believe the logo is effective. The designer of the brand is apparent, the colors balance the use of sharp edges, and when put side by side of the original inspiration, it makes sense.
